We supply only / and erect all types of wooden fencing
Pressure creosoted fencing.
H.J.WEBB& SON are one of only a few companies to provide pressure creosote treatment as an alternative. All timber is treated to Clause 11, BS5589 Category A. This means all post & rail has a moisture content of under 28% before treatment so this type of fencing has a life expectancy of forty years. Another added advantage is that horses are more reluctant to chew fencing with this type of treatment which makes it undoubtedly the most cost effective form of fencing.
POST & RAIL
H.J.WEBB & SON have supplied and erected post & rail fencing to many customers over the years, both in the UK and abroad (A long list of references given on request)
SQUARE POST & RAIL
(Available in CCA tanalised or Pressure Creosote)
The standard posts are 125mm wide x 75mm thick and are also available as 100mm wide and 150mm wide x 75mm thick posts.
Standard rails are 87mm wide x 38mm thick and for extra strength 100mm x 38mm and 100mm x 47mm rails are available. Posts are placed at 1.8M centres and are either 1.8M or 2.1M long with the rails being 3.6M long.
HALF ROUND POST & RAIL
(Only CCA treatment in stock but Pressure creosote done to order)
The standard posts are cundy peeled or rustic and have a 100mm - 125mm diameter face and are also available as heavy duty half round posts which have a 125mm - 150mm face.
Standard rails have a 100mm - 125mm face and are 3.6M long and again are usually rustic in appearance.
H.J.WEBB & SON also offer a machined half round rail which have a regular 100mm face all the way along, are easier to work with and have a smarter finished appearance.
Posts are placed at 1.8M centres and are either 1.65M or 1.8M long with the rails being 3.6M long
POST & WIRE
When erecting post & wire you can use whatever posts you prefer, either round (the most common), half round or square. H.J.WEBB & SON do all of these in various lengths and diameters to go hand in hand with all of these wire types:
Stockfence
Horsefence
Keepsafe
Deerfence
Rabbit netting
Barbed wire
Smooth wire
CLOSEBOARD FENCING
H.J.WEBB & SON recommend that all posts, whatever the finished fence height, are 125mm x 100mm square to give a very strong finish which is essential, especially in exposed areas. Our specially designed posts have V notches in the face of the posts to take the triangular arris rails and are also rebated in the top to take a planed & shaped capping to give it a very smart finish. We stock the following heights and can order any other heights required by our customers. (Usually the featheredge boards are 125mm wide) :
1.2M finished height
1.5M finished height
1.8M finished height
2M finished height
LARCHLAP & TRELLIS PANELS
H.J.WEBB & SON are one of a very few companies to stock pressure treated larchlap and trellis panels. We recommend using panels with this type of treatment due to the life span of the timber and also the appearance of the finished job. Ninety-five per cent of panels on the market today are only dipped and do lose their colour in a short space of time, but our pale green, inconspicuous panels are proving to be a huge success. We do not stock any dipped panels or any other products with this form of treatment.
All pressure treated trellis and larchlap panels are 1.83M wide and come in various heights and are finished off with a top cap:
0.9M high
1.2M high
1.5M high
1.8M high
OTHER TYPES OF FENCING IN STOCK :
Round top & pointed top palisade / picket fencing
Vertical or horizontal hit & miss fencing
Chainlink fencing

H.J.WEBB & SON stock an enormous range of softwood and hardwood gates ranging from 900mm wide right up to 4.5M wide. We offer a custom made service enabling specific requirements to be met. This service makes it possible for individual designs of gates. All timber used on our gates is from kiln dried stock which eliminates any movement and twisting once the gate has been hung.
Our extensive range of gate posts start at 100mm square right up to 225mm square. Most posts have a two way weather top however we can arrange for any type of top to be put on.

H.J.WEBB & SONS decking is machined out of kiln dried material so therefore does not split or twist once laid. We have a specially designed board with a double profile so the customer can choose for themselves which design / groove type they prefer.
Each board finishes 120mm wide by 28mm thick and we always have in stock 3M, 3.6M, 4.2M and 4.8Metre lengths. To compliment our decking we also supply hand rails, spindles, newell posts and base rails, again all kiln dried and pressure treated for longer life.

The standard railway sleeper is 2.5 Metres long, 250mm wide and 125mm thick. H.J.WEBB & SON stocks various types of sleeper:
NEW - These are tanalised softwood and are brand new. The advantages of these are that they are cleaner to use and remain so once laid, are lighter in weight and they are easier to cut and machine.
GRADE ONE - These are old original sleepers and have fairly square edges and few large splits. This grade are ideal for steps and raised beds in the garden which give a smart finished job whilst giving the rustic effect. These come in mixed packs of soft and hardwood timber.
GRADE TWO - These sleepers are still solid but do have broken or rounded edges and splits on the end. They are ideal for going under garden sheds or retaining soil where function is more important than appearance.
CROSSING SLEEPERS - Crossing sleepers are becoming very hard to obtain but H.J.WEBB & SON always try to have fifteen to twenty in stock. These sleepers range from 2.7Metres long to 4.5Metres long and have the added bonus of being wider and thicker, averaging about 300mm wide and 150mm thick. These sleepers are ideal for bridges to take farm traffic for example.

The founder of H.J.WEBB & SON, John Webb, has been a specialist in the field of plywood and sheet material from the companys outset. Due to our long running advertisement in the national magazine Farmers Weekly, we have a solid & regular customer base nationwide for all types of plywood for various jobs in the agricultural & construction industry.
H.J.WEBB & SON hold stock in excess of 2,000 sheets of plywood, chipboard, sterling board, hardboard & MDF of all qualities, thicknesses & sizes.
H.J.WEBB & SON have their own unique product of pressure treated plywood. This gives the board even more durability and makes it ideal for trailer beds or silage clamps for example.

H.J.WEBB & SON hold one of the widest range of sawn and treated timber in Oxfordshire. All timber is kiln dried to comply with the house and construction industry and is automatically stress graded to the standard C16 specification, the common stamp required on all timber which is used in houses today.
H.J.WEBB & SON also have the rare advantage of having a qualified visual stress grader, Mr. Shaun Reynolds on site all the time so we can also grade timber to the higher C24 specification when necessary.
